(NDJ) ? A mother in Tennessee managed to save her three children from her burning home but didn?t survive the fire herself. She died from smoke inhalation.
Kristina Kallstrom (40) was the first to realize her house was on fire in the middle of the night, filling the air with thick black smoke. Putting her own life on the line, Kristina went room to room, grabbed her children, 5, 8 and 12 years old, and brought them to safety.

Sadly she had inhaled so much smoke during her effort she died from suffixation.
For the Kallstrom family from Townsend, Tennessee, tragedy has been piling up. In July, Kristina lost her husband, Paul (50), and father of her children when he suffered a massive heart attack.
Since then Kristina has raised the family by herself and moved in with her brother Robert.
?Now they?ve lost everything. First their father, now their mother. They stood there completely helpless, two of them were even barefooted. Heart-wrenching,? Robert said tearfully.
Will McCampbell, a volunteer firefighter who knew the family, concurred with Robert.
?When you work as a volunteer for the fire department in a small town, your worst nightmare is that you know the people who were afflicted.?
?You pray something like that never happens,? Will said. ?It was just awful.?
Law enforcement said they?ll start an investigation into how the fire got started but believe that probably faulty wiring in the old building is what caused the fire.
